When you’re a skin care dermatologists assistant or a dermatologist in a hospital, you probably know someone who’s been getting paid more than a hundred bucks an hour.
That’s a lot of money.
If you’re one of them, you may be surprised to know that even though the paychecks are not quite as lucrative as they used to be, you still can’t keep them for yourself.
That is because, at least according to the most recent salary data, there is no such thing as a “skin care job.”
That’s because, for a variety of reasons, people in the field aren’t able to earn as much as they once did, and because employers have begun to cut jobs in a way that’s been called the “skincare apocalypse.”
And if you’re worried that you’ll lose your job, here are a few tips to help you get your career back on track.
Be a skincare expert.
There’s a good chance that your boss is a dermatologists or skin care professional.
You may be one of the few people in your field who knows what you need to do to get the most out of your skin.
That means you need a strong foundation in the areas of skin care.
And if your boss says you need help understanding what the patient needs, that’s probably not a good idea.
“Skin care jobs are changing in the way that they’re being paid and the way they’re promoted,” said Jennifer Lipschutz, a dermatology professor at the University of California, San Francisco.
She added that while it’s hard to keep track of how many dermatologists are in a job, there are more than 1,000,000 dermatologists in the United States.
The top paid jobs in the industry include dermatologists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, dermatologists with advanced practice, dermatologist assistants, and dermatologists specializing in treating the skin.
“There’s a very clear set of criteria for these jobs,” said Lipspitz.
“They need to be in the area of treating the most common conditions, like rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and acne, and they need to have a particular skill set.
And the people who are doing the most of these jobs are getting paid very, very well.”
And the average salary for a dermatologic assistant or podiatrist is about $40,000 a year, according to a 2014 study published in the American Journal of Dermatology.
But some jobs in these areas pay more.
A podiatry doctor who is a podiatrician can make between $90,000 and $110,000 annually, while a dermatopharmacologist at a dermatological clinic can earn up to $90.5 million a year.
“It’s not as if they’re getting paid to go to a podiatric clinic, they’re going to the dermatology clinic and seeing a patient,” said Dr. Katherine Johnson, a board-certified dermatologist and a board member of the American Academy of Dermdologists.
“And the fact that the job of a dermatographer in the US is in fact the lowest paid of any profession, it is still very, not totally free of pay,” Johnson said.
If that’s not enough, a new study published online this month in the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology found that dermatologists also make up the largest group of jobless in the country.
“In a very real sense, if you are an individual in a medical field that has lost some of its income and lost its market share, the only people left are the people that you are paying to be a dermatopath,” said Johnson.
“So the fact is that a lot is going on in the profession of dermatology that is going to cause a lot more stress and anxiety for people who have been getting a lot less money for a long time.”
Take on a job in a new field.
You’re no longer the dermatologist you used to work for, and it’s time to start a new job that’s a little more competitive.
“If you want to be paid for your work as a dermatovirus expert, or as a podiatrics expert, you’re going a long way in the right direction,” said Pauline Johnson, the director of research and education at the American Board of Dermetology.
“But you also have to be more competitive,” she added.
“You’re not going to be as good as your competition, and if you do lose your dermatoviruses, then you’ll be paying for the rest of your health care costs and that can be a really big barrier to having a job.”
In addition to a new profession, you’ll also have a new position and a new role at home, she said.
